Can I make chewing gum at home?
Don't try this at home, kids. Mixing gum requires very high temperatures. If you tried to use ordinary pots and pans to make it, they would most likely scorch and be ruined.
What happens if I swallow my gum?
A lot of people have the wrong idea about what happens if you swallow a piece of chewing gum, so we're glad to set the record straight! Chewing gum has five basic ingredients - sweeteners, corn syrup, softeners, flavors and gum base (the part that puts the "chew" in chewing gum). The first four ingredients are soluble, meaning they dissolve in your mouth as you chew. Gum base doesn't. And although it isn't meant to be swallowed, if it is, it simply passes through your system, just like popcorn or any other form of roughage. This normally takes only a few days.
How can I get chewing gum out of my hair?
Try using peanut butter or vegetable oil to soften the gum. This should make removing it a bit easier.
How can I be a Doublemint twin?
It's very hard to become a Doublemint twin. Every year, our advertising agency gets tons of letters and pictures from twins who want to be featured in our famous commercials. But if you have a serious interest in becoming a Doublemint twin, contact the agency at:

Why don't you guys make chocolate chewing gum?
We wish we could! Unfortunately, the cocoa butter in chocolate makes the chewing gum base extremely soft. We've never found a way to use real chocolate in gum without it making it too mushy to chew. Of course, we could use artificial chocolate flavoring, but we just aren't satisfied with the quality.
Is chewing gum really good for your teeth?
Yes - it's hard to believe that a great tasting product like chewing gum has important dental benefits, but it's true! Here's how it works:
Saliva is your body's natural defense against tooth decay. It contains buffering agents that help neutralize the acid. When you chew gum, the acid is neutralized after 20 minutes of chewing. That's because gum chewing stimulates salivation at three times the normal rate.
Why don't you make a half-stick of gum?
Actually, the idea of making a smaller piece of gum goes back a good many years. Originally, many sticks of gum were scored, or perforated, to break into smaller pieces. Juicy Fruit was made this way when it was first introduced in 1893. Over many years, though, the sale of gum in this form dwindled.
Since then, we've experimented with lots of different sizes and shapes of gum, but we've found that most people enjoy the present standard size.
